Introduction: 
  • Habits we keep make our child. 
  • Your habit on what you do when you wake up determines your next step with your child. 

Today's points to remember: 

  • p. 54, 
    • Create rhythms of conversation at mealtimes, 
    • Sit down, at the same time, in the same lace and eat together, 
  • p. 55, "Keystone Habit"
    • when we commit to certain smaller rhythms, a lot of other rhythms fall into place. 
  • p. 56, "Liturgical Lense" 
  • p. 58, 
    • communing, not consuming is the household's center of gravity...not extracurriculars,...these things must revolve around the family.  
  • p. 59, "Liturgical Lense" - because it is spiritual formation and of course, worship
    • Candle, Christ is light
    • Take hands
    • Then we pray
    • Passing dishes practices delayed tratification
    • complementing the meal - power of encouragement
    • withholding criticism - practice virtue of silence because lots of things we think aren't worth saying.  
    • Spills - practice forgiving. 
    • Waiting - we practice sticking around even wen we don't want to
    • Help clean, reset the kitchen - gift of communal life

    • blessing is always outward, not inward
    • practice of inviting the stranger in
  • p. 63, entertaining vs. hospitality
    • entetrtaining is looking your best,
    • hospitality is opening up into the unvarnished mess.
